Stations Building Workshop
At Smiths Row we are learning about the peculiarities of railway design and construction. On Wednesday 23rd November Alison attended a Station Buildings Workshop at The Department for Transport, run by the Association of Community Rail Partnerships.
It was an incredibly informative and useful session and will help us date changes to the Station Masters House at Bury and plan and manage its restoration. It has also helped us identify potential issues, for example I was unaware that bakelite contains asbestos and that if you tell station staff you are taking photographs at railway stations you may be arrested.
